I'm in the process of sorting out mobility issues. HIIT trainer and lifter, but didnt pay attention to my body. Now have to even up a weak right glute and tight back. Slowly getting back there, but once it goes it's a bastard to get sorted. Good to see you, Jefe!
In December I spent 22 days in the hospital, had open heart surgery to replace one of my heart valves, then 9 days later had a pacemaker installed. A whole lot of NOT FUN!
I was fortunate that I was a clean liver who kept my weight down, exercised five days a week in my home gym, never smoked, and rarely drank. Genetics and bad luck finally caught up with me.
Your advice about exercise is spot on and I still work out five days a week, two of those days at a cardiac rehab program at my local hospital. I’m in better shape than I was a few months ago but not the same as I was. I echo your remarks, just take care of yourself because the alternative is bad!
Love this! I’d also love to know what the best writing posture actually is for the body. Desk height, distance to screen etc. Need to research this.
I lift 2x per week with a PT,
1x on my own, focused on heavy compound lifts, walk 30 min a day, and occasional sprints on a rower. This amount of fitness and $$$ has brought sacrifices to my social life (I do it in the evenings) but if I don’t do it, I feel like garbage. The occasional yoga class also. Constantly going for high protein, low cal diet, though the struggle is real because I love margaritas and nachos.
Shrimp in a hoodie! I might have snorted.
I actually really needed to hear this. When on a deadline my thinking goes: I’ll take care of myself next year! 😬
Haaa! I hear that. I’ll sleep next week…
Lately I’ve been more like three shrimps in a hoodie. Hitting the gym this afternoon!
Hell yeah.
This feels as if you're watching me from outside my window 🤣🤣 Exactly what I needed to hear.
Sit up straight! 😆
The way I just did that 😂 coño you got me.
Thanks for this, needed to hear this. I'm now getting up off of my ass and taking a walk around the block. LOL. Keep going, brother. Always a fan.
Back at ya, brother!
At the very least, if you are at all able, keep moving. Death has trouble hitting a moving target.
This is the best writing advice on Substack and possibly ever.
Dude, it was a very caring post. Thank you!

It’s amazing how sometimes things come when they’re needed. I needed this and thank you for writing it.
I think you just made me sit up straighter! Honestly though a sit-stand desktop riser has been the best investment I ever made in my home office.

One hundred percent with you.

This is some really entertaining piece you put out there!!
Thank you! I needed to read this.
