I've been writing, but not nearly as much as usual. I find words knotted up in my throat and pounding inside of my skull, yet what I'm producing trickles from my fingers. The world is a scary place right now, indeed, but it's so good to connect through communication. We won't break. We'll pour gold in our fissures and strengthen each other.
Sometimes, I question my ability to write anything that can stand up to current events. King tells us to keep going, even if we are feeling that we're "only shoveling shit in the seated position." I have to keep going, even if my work entertains or gives hope to one person.
This week, I made the shift from writing as something I did to writing as something I practiced, and it's been huge for me. I don't write every day, but I know for sure that it nourishes my soul. Thank you, as always, for the wisdom, Gabino!
I retired last year so can sit out most of the craziness. This gives me way more time to write and to finally get my book published. Fortunately, I don’t have to make my living writing so that gives me more freedom to write what I want and not get too worried about sales. I also spend less and less time reading the news. It’s just too horrifying!
Starting many flash stories & poems; writing is a balm. Yet hard to finish with no focus...
I also joined a community, no-audition chorus for the first time. I have to tell you, the power of singing (perhaps not so well) in frightening times is remarkable! 80 different people from different places near Boston creating one imperfect, united song...
Same same same. I can’t wait to read your finished products when we come out the other side.
Thank you and back at ya!
Write.
Read.
Repeat.
Write.
Read.
Repeat....
Writing so you don't scroll? Same here, very much so.

I'm right there with you in that "I don't have a contract right now" thing. First time in decades. We'll hang tough and keep doing that thing we do!

Absolutely felt this. We can only do our best.
Well said, but I expect nothing less from you, Gabino. :)
I am loving this message and the call to action. Pick up the 1,000 pound pen and write.
Hell yeah!

The problem with writing for one half the population is you're writing for one half the population.
Same, pretty much. It's good to know I'm not alone.

Excuse my lack of eloquence and sophistication but….
Yep, yep and yep.
Excited to read more from you here!
