“For years I worked and couldn’t get published. For years I struggled to get my career off the ground. For years I didn’t get reviews in big venues or stars from places like Library Journal or rave reviews in the New York Times. Now I get to be part of the New Golden Age of Horror…”
None of that happened without your hard work and perseverance. That’s a great lesson for writers.
A truly beautiful and honest post about the best Horror has to offer. It’s not all prizes, let’s celebrate the fine horror work that the community produced!
The House of Bone and Rain has been one of my favourite reads this year - and I have talked many an ear off about my joy at having discovered you. I’m so grateful you’re a part of this horror renaissance! You have a unique and wonderful voice.
First time in years I've read all the nom for novel beforehand. It was a very heavy talent year, and I expect it to be for years to come. I loved all the novels but I would have chosen yours as the best. I'm still thinking about it months after I read it. But all of the nom novels were fucking awesome!
Right on. When my novel Incarnate didn't make the preliminary ballot, sure I was a little bummed, but I saw who did and thought, "That's one hell of a lot of talent." When I saw the FINAL ballot, I thought, "Well, I never stood a chance anyway LOL." I like what you said here, though. I agree. I'm glad that there is so much amazing horror coming out, by such a wide range of authors. It's exciting. I'm thrilled to be a part of this thriving community.
*applauds* This is IT.
We missed you at Stokercon :-)
You're a legend, Gabino. Glad to be your literary pal <3
Great read!
This part right here:
